Family Music Circle (60 min)
Contemplative and nature-based songs for children and families
Join NEILL in a song circle especially geared towards families. We will share simple songs, learn harmonies and rounds, and send you home with a few new favorite songs to sing together.

Mantra Meditation Concert (90 min)
A musical meditation experience, NEILL leads Sanskrit and Buddhist mantras in a traditional call and response style with accompanying meditation and breath practices.

NEILL meditative concert (90 min)
NEILL is joined by her husband Noah Roen for a Contemplative and participatory concert experience for all ages. Bathe your body and mind in healing sounds of Sanskrit and Tibetan mantras, with some American folk songs sprinkled in for fun. NEILL and Noah will fill the space with vocal harmonies, gentle hand percussion, drone instruments, and singing bowls. All ages welcome as long as children seem interested and are able to maintain a relative level of quiet for the benefit of other listeners.

I am a devoted Vajrayana practitioner in the lineage of Chogyam Trungpa and trained as a meditation instructor in the Somatic Practice lineage of Reggie Ray (2010-2019). I have finished many traditional form practices including Ngondro under Reggie and Ngondro and Green Tara under Lama Tsultrim Allione and Chandra Easton at Tara Mandala. For me, meditation practice grew out of a love of Yoga Asana beginning in 2003, and a path of teacher training from 2008-2012. I am a senior Prajna Yoga teacher under Tias and Surya Little (500 hour certified with additional advanced trainings) and have taught asana, yoga sutras, chanting, Sanskrit, and meditation across the country.

I am also a founding member of the four woman Balkan band Rumelia Collective (2010-present) based in Santa Fe, NM. In 2024 I am traveling with my two newest NEILL albums: SMOKE: offerings to Earth and Sky, as well as EARTH: Songs for Mother. I cancelled a tour with EARTH in April of 2020, and SMOKE was released digitally during the pandemic. I am excited to share them in-person again. I currently have five of my nine elements collection available in physical form as CD Books and streaming online on all platforms.

The retreat will be held at Charles Hot Springs. Your sliding scale retreat fee ($350-450) covers all four days filled with classes and Nicolle’s organization skills in bringing us all together, highlighting various participants skills (Sally Reimer will offer Tai Chi, Kat Muller will offer live sound for a restorative yoga practice, Noah Roen will offer a dharma talk, etc).

You will book your own hotel room – hopefully we can fill the place with just our group! Rooms at The Charles range from $80-100 a night and have a kitchenette and sitting area in almost every room. There is a block of rooms reserved for our group, so if you aren’t able to make a reservation online, call them at (575) 894-7154 and let them know you are coming as a part of the retreat.

I am accepting full retreat payments to reserve your place. Half refund available before Dec 31st. No refunds after Dec. 31st.

The hotel is family and dog friendly. We are bringing our 2-year-old and our new SIlver lab Hazel. Grandma Linda (former preschool teacher and full of patient love) is offering expanded childcare possibilities, please be in touch with me for details. There is no additional fee for childcare for two 2-hour sessions a day 10am-12pm & 3:30-5:30pm. This option is only for parent/s attending the retreat, parents must stay on-site. We ask that you bring snacks, toys, and activities for the children to share. Since grandma will have the dog too, this offer would not be appropriate for children with dog fear or allergy.

Evening programs on Thursday, Friday Saturday: Possibilities include art openings, live music in town, a restorative yoga sound bath with me at the studio, gathering in a large private tub at one of the many local hot springs, etc, and will be determined by the group closer to the event.

Retreat will officially close at 5pm on Sunday Feb 4th allowing you to depart that evening if necessary,
ideally you can stay one more night and depart on Monday the 5th. Those of us in town can make informal plans for the evening and Monday morning. We often stop at a tourist attraction on our way north (towards Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Colorado) such as Bosque del Apache bird sanctuary. Evening flights our of Albuquerque would allow you a full, leisurely final day.

Why would you want to take a yoga retreat with me, of all people out there? It’s a great question!

I have been practicing yoga since 2003, studied deeply as a teacher from 2008-2012 at which point I completed a 500 hour training program with Praja Yoga, Tias and Surya Little. This system combines aspects of Iyengar and Ashtanga yoga, using props, alignment, strength, and dynamic practice, as well as restorative and therapeutic postures to create an accessible and satisfying practice. I have continued to teach, study, and practice sincerely all these years, and I can truly say Yoga has saved my life. This retreat is open to all levels of practice and enthusiasm. You do not need to participate in every single offering.

I am also a devoted Vajrayana practitioner in the lineage of Chogyam Trungpa (since 2010), trained as a meditation instructor (Since 2018) in the Somatic Practice lineage of Reggie Ray. I have finished many traditional form practices including Ngondro under Reggie and another ngondro and Green Tara under the guidance of Lama Tsultrim Allione and Chandra Easton at Tara Mandala. I have studied the 21 Taras in the Longchen Nyingthig lineage extensively and have accumulated thousands of mantra recitations for all 21 emanations.

This contemplative and joyful gathering will consist of guided meditation utilizing breath, sound, and visualization. After sharing spacious awareness and song together we will connect as a community in conversation. We will continue our community connection with an optional brunch at the Blue Heron after our practice.

I am so excited to sit with you in person again! Some of us have been meeting regularly on zoom to practice mantra meditation and we will build on that foundation. You do not need to have any experience with meditation to join us, all are welcome! Join Amanda Griggs and Nicolle Roen on this unique body mind journey. This one of a kind collaboration will guide you into a state of relaxation and peace within. Our evening together will begin with a restorative yoga practice led by Amanda and accompanied by live music and Mantra by Nicolle. Once we have thoroughly relaxed and dropped in together, there will be a short break. Then we will sit in meditation, guided by Nicolle, utilizing mantras from Yoga tradition. Mantras selected for our practice together tune and harmonize the physical, energetic, and collective body and are compatible with all spiritual paths. Nicolle NEILL (Jensen) Roen has been a yoga practitioner since 2003, teacher since 2008, meditation instructor since 2016, and musician since able to talk and drum on the table! Her music has received praise worldwide for its unique blend of traditional mantra, ambient drones, and world percussion. Since last seeing her friends in the Midwest yoga world she has married Noah and birthed a little girl, Skyla Jade, born November 2021.

Amanda Griggs holds a Level 2 certification in Iyengar Yoga and has practiced the method since 2003, studied at RIYMI in Pune, India and attended multiple conventions under the instruction of the Iyengar family. Her passion for sharing yoga ignited in 2008 after finishing a month in drug and alcohol treatment. She experienced profound transformation from starting a daily practice and is committed to inspiring others to also discover the healing power of yoga.
